With August closing in and fall around the corner, the weather will soon be optimal for fall hikes. We’re rounding up a few of the best places to go hiking near the Boston area here!

Battle Road Trail

Less of a hike and more of a trail, this five-mile path connects historic sites in Concord and Lexington. Learn some history during your walk by visiting this scenic trail, and you’re also able to take a bike ride on it too!
Blue Hills
Just twenty minutes from Boston, Blue Hills offers more than 125 trails for all levels. If you’re feeling adventurous, the six-mile Skyline Loop will have you sweating and even climbing over some rocks, but the view of the Boston skyline is worth it, especially in the fall.
Breakheart Reservation
Just north of Boston, the Breakheart Reservation is a beautiful trail that circles two lakes and forms loops around the Saugus River.
The Emerald Necklace

Not incredibly intense, but sure is beautiful. This is a seven-mile staple in the heart of the city extends into Brookline. It passes through beautiful gardens, a wildflower meadow, the Arboretum, and a zoo. It’s easy to access via public transit, and bike-accessible.
Mount Misery

The name alone should intrigue you, but fret not, most of the paths are flat and manageable. It’s a perfect path for a walk with your pet or a run. It’s less crowded than some of the other popular Boston hikes.
Noanet Peak

A trail with a 70-foot elevation gain, Noanet Peak in Dover, MA has woodland trails and ponds. It’s a great hike for a variety of abilities, and furry friends as well.
World’s End Reservation
Located in Hingham, MA, World’s End is a moderate trail 251-acres long with beautiful views everywhere you look. There’s an $8 admission to walk, as a heads-up, but a small price to pay for such a gorgeous walk.
