Update! This Special Weekend pass has been extended! It will be good for unlimited travel on commuter rail lines until December 9, 2018!
The MBTA announced yesterday a summer pilot program with a $10 summer weekend fare aboard the commuter rail for unlimited travel. The pass would be available for travel through all zones, except CapeFlyer, beginning June 9, 2018 to September 2, 2018 December 9, 2018!
The $10 weekend fare will be valid for all Commuter Rail zones on both Saturdays and Sundays. The $10 fare will be available on mTicket, onboard trains, and ticket windows at North, South, and Back Bay Stations.
The pass applies to customers 12 and above and paying adults can bring two children under 12 for free.
Some commuter rail fares are over $10 for one way, so this pays for itself in less than one trip!
This is a great deal and a cheap and easy way to get into or out of the city, depending on where you live.
