Money Saving Tips

*Every Monday throughout 2014 I will be sharing Money Savings Tips to help stick to and expand your budget!

Taking advantage of free entertainment and budget-friendly entertainment is a great way to save money. In fact, entertainment was the very first thing I cut after I started a budget and needed to cut back.

There are so many things to do for free or cheap that is still fun in the greater Boston area and beyond. Summer is also a great time to cut back on your entertainment budget. There are so many free events and activities that are happening this summer that it doesn’t cost a lot to have a lot of summer fun.

For my personal budget, I actually tie entertainment into my food budget since most of my fun I do spend money on involves food some way. However, if I do a non-food activity for entertainment, I typically take advantage of a free event or activity.

Summer is a perfect time to take advantage of free events: Free outdoor movies, free yoga and fitness classes, free live music, free festivals, free attractions in Massachusetts on Fridays, and so much more free things to do.

Make sure to check out my 27 Free Things to Do in Boston This Summer post or Free Things to Do in Boston for a lot of great ideas for free entertainment if you haven’t already.

What are some of your favorite ways to save on entertainment?
