When is Juneteenth 2023?
Juneteenth is the celebration of the anniversary of June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers landed in Galveston to officially tell slaves in Texas that they were free. Juneteenth is now an official federal holiday, so there’s more reason than ever to celebrate.

This event will be held in the library’s back garden as one of the main Juneteenth events Boston has this year. Please bring a blanket or folding chair to sit on, grass can be damp!
