Boston’s own Museum of Science is inviting Fortnite players to come test their skills against the area’s best this May as the museum hosts a one-of-a-kind Fortnite Tournament. Whether you’re a seasoned Fortnite veteran or a wet-behind-the-ears noob, this is definitely one tournament you don’t want to miss.

While there are countless esports tournaments held around the nation, the Fortnite tournament at the Boston Museum of Science will pit players against one another on a two-story tall screen in the museum’s own Charles Hayden Planetarium.

Tickets for the tournament are just $10 when purchased ahead of time online, and will be $12 at the door. Ticket purchase links and more information can be found on the Boston Museum of Science website. The winner will take home a $250 prize.

The tournament is structured as a Leaderboard Race, which means players will be putting up high scores throughout the event and the highest score at the end of the tournament will win. This allows the maximum number of players to compete and ensures the winner will not be chosen until the very last match.

Players will be shuffled randomly and called one-by-one to perform a single solo drop on a public Fortnite server. Once their drop is over, the next player will be called. Score for each drop will be totaled as follows:

+9 points for a win

+9 points for Top 25

+6 points for top 10

+6 points for top 5

+3 points per kill

Only each player’s highest score will be entered onto the leaderboard, so players will potentially have multiple chances to improve their score throughout the tournament.

Sign-ups are limited to a first-come, first-serve basis and start at 5:00 each date of the tournament. Make sure to get there early to ensure you actually get into the tournament. All ticket holders will be allowed to stay in the planetarium as a spectator regardless of whether or not they get onto the tournament list or not.

The Museum of Science’s Fortnite Tournament takes place on Thursday, May 21 at 7:30 pm. Players can arrive early and beginning warming up starting at 6:30 pm.
