August Wilson’s Fences follows the story of Troy Maxon as he goes through life as a former star of the Negro baseball leagues to becoming a garbage man in his hometown. His life’s story as a black man details his exclusion from the major leagues and how this segregation affects his relationships with his family, friends, but most importantly his son.

The story captures an important time in history with a family fighting to break through racial barriers and support each other with love, forgiveness, and compassion.
