Boston marathon postponement

The Boston Marathon was set to happen on April 20, but due to the concerns of the coronavirus, that date is being pushed back. In over 120 years, the Boston Marathon has never been cancelled and officials aren’t planning to start now. That said, due to growing health concerns, the officials from the cities and towns on the marathon route decided it was in everyone’s best interest to postpone the race. Why are they postponing the Boston Marathon? Officials from cities along the marathon route from Ashland, Boston, Brookline, Framingham, Hopkinton, Natick, Newton, and Wellesley got together to discuss the impact of the coronavirus and the health and protection of the runners and spectators. The decision concluded with a Boston Marathon postponement. Plans are still being worked out, but could lead to moving the race to September.

I was planning to run the race, now what? You might still have a chance to run in the Boston Marathon if that was your plan. You’ll have to keep practicing for a few more months, though. No word is out about when the race will take place, but it could be in the fall. For now, the Boston Marathon is not cancelled, only postponed. When we know the plans for when the Boston Marathon will be rescheduled, we’ll be sure to share them with you.

Will the Boston Marathon be rescheduled? Yes. There is a lot that goes into making the Boston Marathon successful. A lot of that has to do with working with the towns along the route to ensure that everything moves smoothly. Officials are currently working together to find a new suitable date to hold the Boston Marathon.

What if I have scheduled travel arrangement for the Boston Marathon? If you’ve already made your travel arrangements, you’ll need to contact the companies you were using for your travel plans. It’s hard to say if refunds or credits will be given, but due to the coronavirus and the need to decrease public events, it’s likely that airlines and hotels will be working with the public as their plans change.
