Thursday, July 1st through Sunday, July 4th

An annual tradition in Boston, Harbor Fest celebrates the city’s revolutionary history and offers hundreds of activities at Boston’s landmarks over the course of the weekend.

 

Live Music at the Franklin Steps and Downtown

Thursday, July 1st through Saturday, July 3rd, beginning at 6PM

Almost every night of the weekend will be live music from a variety of Boston acts. Check out the full schedule of musical acts, but you can catch many performances at the Franklin Steps for free.

 

Boston Pops 4th of July Spectacular

Sunday, July 4th beginning at 8 PM

Taking place at Tanglewood this year, the Boston Pops 4th of July Spectacular will be live-streamed and

televised on Sunday. While tickets to the show are sold out, turn on the television to watch the orchestra perform patriotic favorites.

 

Walk the Freedom Trail

Anytime

With more than 250 years of history to offer, the Boston Freedom Trail is the perfect activity for the 4th of July weekend. The Freedom Trail offers a variety of guided tours, from a Historic Pub Crawl private tour to Pirates and Patriots and Revolutionary Women. That said, the Freedom Trail is also available for a self-guided tour which you can take at any time.

 

Ooh and Aah at the Fireworks 

Sunday, July 4th, 9 PM

If you’re in the city on Sunday, the fireworks that will be accompanying the Boston Pops’ 4th of July spectacular will be launching from the Boston Commons. Closer to Springfield, MA? Star-Spangled Springfield is taking place this year, which includes a dazzling fireworks display on the Connecticut River.
