The program includes many routes that serve the Boston area and the surrounding mid-Atlantic region.
The new Share Fares program is a no-brainer for anyone looking to travel by AmTrak with a few friends or loved ones. Whenever you book travel for up to four passengers using the same itinerary, AmTrak will automatically discount all tickets after the first ticket. The first ticket will be charged full price, the second will get 15% off, the third gets 60% off, and the fourth gets a whopping 70% off! That means you’ll save upwards of 21% off if you book all four passengers.
“At Amtrak, we believe the journey is the most important part of the adventure,” said Amtrak President and CEO Richard Anderson in a press release. “Recognizing the desire for customers to get more out of every moment, we’ve put significant investments into our stations, equipment, and infrastructure to improve the overall experience and give our customers the opportunity to rediscover train travel.”
The Share Fares discount is only valid for one-way adult tickets in coach and cannot be combined with any other discount. AmTrak customers booking up to four tickets should use the promo code V291 and make reservations at least three days prior to their travel date.
The Share Fares program can save you big on many Boston-area routes including the Northeast Regional which serves Boston, Washington, D.C., New York City, Springfield, Norfolk, Richmond, Newport News, and Roanoke. The discount also applies to many of the most popular routes elsewhere in the country including the California Zephyr, Capitol Limited, Cardinal, City of New Orleans, Coast Starlight, Crescent, Empire Builder, Lake Shore Limited, Palmetto, Silver Meteor, Silver Star, Southwest Chief, and Texas Eagle.
