Get out of the house this weekend and take advantage of these free and cheap events happening around Fort Worth:

Mardi Gras Parade: Bring the kids to Central Market in Fort Worth on Saturday (Feb. 6) at 1:30 p.m. to watch the “Mardi Gras Partner Parade” – a parade of CM employees complete with floats and throws.

Home Depot Kids’ Workshop: Come to your local HD between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday to help your kid (ages 5-12) build a wooden Car Display. Details are here. The workshop is free.

President’s Honors Concert: On Friday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m., Texas Wesleyan University will hold its annual honors concert, hosted by the university’s president and featuring music played by the school’s honor students. The concert will be in Martin Hall, at 1309 Wesleyan St. in Fort Worth. This is a free event.

Family Expo: Swing by Veda Knox Elementary School in Arlington (2315 Stonegate St.) on Feb. 6 for its free Family Expo, featuring educational workshops, kids’ activities and more. The expo is from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Call 682-867-2051 for details.

Antiques Show: Come to the 5th Annual Historic Fort Worth Charity Antiques Show, featuring upscale merchants and vendors. It’s at the Masonic Center, located at 1100 Henderson St. in Fort Worth. Admission is $10, and is good for both days of the event, Feb. 6 and 7. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Proceeds benefit preservation efforts in Fort Worth.

Ice Worlds: The Planetarium at UT-Arlington features “Ice Worlds” this weekend – an hour-and-a-half film about the world’s Arctic and Antarctic regions. The film begins at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 7. Price is $5 for adults, $4 for children and seniors. The theater’s at 700 Planetarium Drive in Arlington.

Classical Music: Come to Orchestra Hall in Fort Worth (4401 Trail Lake Dr.) for a “Classic Masterworks Concert” featuring music by Brahms, Mozart and more. The concert is Sunday, Feb. 7; pre-concert reception begins at 7:45 p.m. and the music begins at 8:15. Suggested donation of $5 for adults and $2 for children.
