Spring Break Events at Bureau of EngravingNext week, March 10-13, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing’s Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth will once again host free Spring Break events and demonstrations for local students! Come to the Bureau anytime during these days from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for various activities.  You can:

  • Witness Intaglio engraving artisanship at the engraver’s workbench.
  • Learn about plate making for Offset printing presses.
  • Enjoy the educational activities in the Kid$ Corral where children over 8 years old can engrave and print their very own currency design (9am-3pm).
  • Watch mutilated currency be reconstructed piece-by-piece.
  • See how currency was printed circa 1900 at the refurbished spider press.
  • Learn how Intaglio printing plates are “grown” in a nickel solution.

And there’s more! Take a self-guided tour on the elevated walkway, explore two floors of interactive exhibits and displays, enjoy the theater movie on currency production, and visit the gift shop, where you can purchase uncut currency and souvenir items.

When you visit, remember to keep most of your belongings in the car – cell phones, electronic equipment, back packs, cameras, weapons (including knives, pellet guns, mace, etc.), explosives, food, and drinks are prohibited.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing is at 9000 Blue Mound Rd. in Fort Worth.
