Free & Cheap Halloween Events in DFWI love Halloween – mostly because I can’t stand hot weather, and Halloween is one of the first major holidays to occur after the weather becomes cool (or, at least, not blindingly hot). As you can see from the picture to your left, my littlest one, Hayden, is ready too! If you’ve got kids, bring them to one of these DFW-area Halloween-themed events:

Friday, Oct. 21:
Halloween Dress Rehearsal Party – at your local Disney Store. Come celebrate the season early at Disney Store with a spook-tacular event filled with games, special viewing of Rapunzel’s coronation and a costume parade! Kids, ages 3 and up, who wear their favorite costume will receive a FREE gift. Come to a session at 4:30 or 6 p.m.
Halloween Craft – at Bass Pro Shops in Grapevine, 5-7 p.m. Make a free Halloween reflector necklace. Kids can participate in a costume parade from 6-7 p.m. Trick or treating takes place at the store from 4-7 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 22:
Halloween Monster Truck Craft – at Lowes stores, beginning at 10 a.m. Kids can make a free glow-in-the-dark Halloween-themed truck. RSVP here to reserve your spot at your local store.
Annual Fall Festival – at White Settlement Nursing Center, 1-4 p.m. Games, food and prizes; kids can wear Halloween costumes. Free admission.
Haunted Trail Fest – at Colleyville Nature Center, 7-9 p.m. Princesses, pirates, goblins and ghouls all come out to enjoy a night of arts and crafts, games, and amusement before venturing down the haunted trail. Pumpkin craft decorating, costume contests for people and pets, and not-so-scary storytelling – what better way to spend an October eve. Admission to the haunted trail is $3. The first half hour of the event is geared toward younger children.
Haunted Trails – at Bear Creek Park Greenbelt in Keller, 7-9:30 p.m. Groups will head down the haunted Bear Creek Park Greenbelt from The Keller Pointe to encounter a variety of Scare Stations along the way. Afterwards groups will be brought back to the parking area on hayrides. $5 adults, $3 students; not recommended for kids under 11.

Halloween Craft – at Bass Pro Shops in Grapevine, 1-4 p.m. Make a free Halloween trick-or-treat bag.

Tuesday, Oct. 25:
Paper Pumpkin Craft Workshop – at Michaels stores, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Kids can make a free pumpkin craft. For ages 3 and up.

Wednesday, Oct. 26:
Halloween Visor Craft Workshop – at Michaels stores, 6-8 p.m. Kids can decorate a visor in a Halloween theme. Free with purchase of visor.

Thursday, Oct. 27:
Halloween Mask Workshop – at Michaels stores, 6-8 p.m. Free with purchase of mask.

Friday, Oct. 28:
Halloween Clay Pot Workshop – at Michaels stores, 6-8 p.m. Free with purchase of pot. For ages 3 and up.
Fall Carnival – at Northwest Park Recreation Center in Irving, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This annual fall carnival features games, prizes and loads of fun for everyone. In addition, there will be a costume contest for kids ages 11 and younger. Admission to the carnival is free, but tickets are needed to play games and purchase food. Tickets will be on sale during the event for $0.25 each or five for $1.
Costume Character Halloween Storytime – at Barnes & Noble University Village, 1 p.m. Enjoy a special Halloween storytime with a costumed guest, Spot.

Halloween Duck Tape Pail or Tote Workshop –  at Michaels stores, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Decorate a pail or tote for Halloween. Free w/purchase of pail or tote.
Halloween Extravaganza Event- at Michaels stores, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free face painting from noon to 1:30 p.m.; kids can participate in a Halloween parade from 1:30 to 2 p.m.
Halloween Carnival for Kids – at Central Market Fort Worth, 2-5 p.m. Bring your ghosts and goblins down to Central Market Fort Worth for a cauldron-full of fun. A Scavenger Hunt, Cookie Decorating, Cake Walk and Costume Parade are planned.
Halloween Hoot N’ Howl – at Green Valley Community Center Park in North Richland Hills, 5-8 p.m. Activities will include: live entertainment, free carnival games, bounce houses, hayrides, a costume contest and more.
GrapeYard Halloween Event – at Vineyards Campgrounds on Lake Grapevine, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. This is a candy free event put on by the Grapevine Parks and Recreation Department. Activities include haunted hay rides, witches tales, night watchman’s trail, and more. The event is free to Grapevine residents and $5 per vehicle for non-residents.
Halloween Storytime -at Barnes & Noble Hulen Center, 11 a.m. Wear your costume and join us for a special A Scaredy-Cat, Splat! Storytime with Rob Scotton’s hilarious character, Splat the Cat, hosted by the North Crowley High School Key Club. Stay after for exciting crafts and activities!
Howling Halloween – at Haltom City Public Library, 2-3 p.m. Kids of all ages can enjoy Halloween themed stories and a puppet show. Non-scary fun. Free; costumes are encouraged.
