photo CHILI-ON-THE-GREEN-Logo_PANTONE-LAYERS-No-Gradient4-300x247_zpsfb828c8c.jpgOn Saturday, Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Magnolia Green Park in Fort Worth will host Chili on the Green, a “Near Southside culinary battle” to determine who can cook the best chili. Up to 20 teams will compete for bragging rights. There are two ways to participate: as a chili cook or a judge. If you’d like to try your hand at cooking, you’ll pay a $75 entry fee for a team of 1-5 people, to cook at least 4 gallons of chili. Alternative chilies, like chicken and vegan, are acceptable. See the full page of regulations here.

If you’d like to be a judge, just pay $10 to sample all of the chilies and vote for your favorite. Tasting happens from 1-3 p.m. (This would be my option!) While you’re there, you can purchase beer from Boiled Owl Tavern and enjoy music from local bands.

Magnolia Green Park is at 1201 Lipscomb St. in Fort Worth.
