Cheap Event: Clark Gardens Spring FestivalMake the trek out to Clark Gardens this weekend (March 26-27) for their Spring Festival. This family-friendly event features lots of activities, such as gardening workshops, food classes, and “education stations” on things like beekeeping and composting. Kids can also have fun: entertainment for them includes a petting zoo, pony rides, clowns and balloons, train rides, and an Easter egg hunt on Sunday. Live music is also happening throughout the festival, as well as a model train show, car show and food vendors. Bring in an old cell phone for recycling and you’ll receive a free tree sapling from the Gardens.

But here’s the part that I like best: there will be wine and artisanal cheese tastings from local wineries and cheesemakers. I’m especially looking forward to samples from Brushy Creek Vineyards and Latte da Dairy.

Admission to the festival is $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and kids. Kids 4 and under get in free. The website also notes that some activities may carry an additional fee, so bring a little extra cash.

Clark Gardens is approximately halfway between Weatherford and Mineral Wells. The address is 567 Maddux Road.
