On Saturday, Feb. 26, North East Mall in Hurst will hold Book Blast, a free event designed to raise awareness of children’s literacy issues. From 1 to 4 p.m., local celebrities will be on hand to read The Little Engine That Could, Strawberry Shortcake: My First Sleepover, and Shoes.

In addition, children can see a sneak peek of the all-new movie, ‘The Little Engine That Could,’ premiering on DVD March 22. Guests also are invited to bring a new or gently used book to the event to be donated to the Hurst Public Library.
