cajun festival

It’s that time of year again: the Big Mamou Cajun Festival is returning to Traders Village in Grand Prairie. Now that the weather is warming back up, it’s the perfect time to get out and enjoy some hot food, cold drinks, and live music. The festival truly brings the best of the bayou right here to the DFW area and is a completely free event sure to please guests of all ages. Don’t miss it!

The Big Mamou Cajun Festival happens this weekend, April 6 and 7, under the Big Red Patio next to the rides and the family entertainment zone at Traders Village. This is always a free event for the public – just remember to bring $4 for parking.

The festival celebrates what are arguably the two best parts of Cajun culture: food and music. Each day at 12:00, the festival kicks things off with live Zydeco music as Dennis Cavalier & Texas Zydeco get everyone dancing.

Once you’ve worked up a sweat, grab a cold beverage and chow down on the many authentic Louisiana and Cajun delicacies cooked up at the festival. Many of your Cajun favorite from shrimp etouffee and gumbo will be on hand, as well as hundreds of pounds of spicy boiled crawfish. Bring your appetite!

After you’ve had enough to eat, stick around to see what Traders Village has to offer. There are over 160 acres of open-air shopping to explore with thousands of vendors selling everything under the sun. You never know what you might find at Traders VIllage, but you’ll always find a great deal.

Aside from shopping, Traders Village offers one of the most affordable amusement park experiences around. For just $12.99, you can pick up an all day rides unlimited wristband and check out  the Village Vortex roller coaster, the Yo-Yo sky swings, the Wipeout wheel, the Fleafall drop, Pharaoh’s Fury pendulum boat, and other thrilling rides as many times as you want.

The Big Mamou Cajun Festival will be held this weekend, April 6th-7th, 2019 at Traders Village. This is a free event, and parking is always just $4.
