Nothing says Texas quite like an outdoor food festival. The Lone Star State is known for its love of the outdoors and its rich culinary traditions, and the Dallas Observer is honoring two of our state’s most popular pastimes with Between the Buns, the second-annual festival honoring sliders, mini-sandwiches, and just about anything you can fit between two tiny pieces of bread. Between the Buns is a one-of-a-kind festival honoring the king of bite sized sandwiches: the slider. Sliders gained their popularity throughout the 1980s and 1990s thanks to restaurants like White Castle or Krystal which exclusively deal in tiny handheld sandwiches of all kinds.
Between the Buns will feature chefs from over 25 restaurants in Dallas and beyond who will be cooking up sliders of all varieties. From the classic cheeseburger to fried chicken or pulled pork sandwiches, Between the Buns will feature it all. In addition to the delicious tiny sandwiches, the festival will also feature live music, cash bars serving up cold beers and cocktails, lawn games, and more.
