officer aj castaneda benefit concert

There will be a benefit concert in honor of fallen Grand Prairie officer AJ Castaneda this Friday, August 2nd from 7-10 PM at Traders Village. Everyone is invited to come out and support the family of a local law enforcement hero.

Double Vision and Breaking Bad will be performing throughout the night, playing hits from Foreigner and Bad Company. Tickets for the benefit are $15 with all of the proceeds going to the Grand Prairie Police Association Benevolence Fund supporting the family of Officer Castaneda.

Officer Castaneda was killed in a crash on June 7, 2019 while in the line of duty. He served for 8 years in the United States Coast Guard, 6 years as a Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, and for the past 5 years in the patrol division of the Grand Prairie Police Department.

In September of last year, Officer Castaneda received numerous commendations after he saved the life of a choking child at Asia Times Square by administering CPR. His colleagues said it was just one of many stories of his bravery and heroism.

Castaneda also routinely gave back to his community. As a native Grand Prairie resident, he was known to take pizzas to the children at the Dalworth Community Center, a place he spent time at himself growing up. He also would help with traffic control in the mornings and afternoons. Evidence of Castaneda’s impact on the community could be seen during the funeral procession as hundreds gathered along sidewalks and in their yards to watch.

The event is being put on with the help of many great local organizations, including Grand Prairie Premium Outlet, 92.1 Hank FM, 95.9 The Ranch, and Tarrant County 911.

Gates open Friday night at 6 PM with this the concert going from 7-10 PM at Traders Village. Click here for more event details.
