Luka Doncic

The Dallas Mavericks are honoring their breakout rookie star Luka Don?i? with a one-of-a-kind augmented reality mural. The mural is on the back wall of the T. Boone Pickens YMCA building at 601 North Akard Street, but the best views can be had from the intersection of Field Street and Ross Avenue. The mural measures 68 feet by 193 feet and takes up the entire back of the building. Once activated, Don?i? truly comes to life in what the Mavericks are calling a “larger than life Luka magic show” depicting a basketball smashing into the building before Don?i? appears and sinks one of his trademark step back jumpers.

“The Mavs are so proud to be able to give the fans an innovative and cutting-edge experience using augmented reality to bring Luka magic to life in the heart of downtown Dallas,” Mavericks CMO Jerome Elenez said in a statement. “We strive to interact with MFFLs both on and off the court and are excited to see our fans’ best Luka impersonations as part of the challenge. Go Mavs!”

Visit the Maverick’s official site for the mural for instructions on how to activate it. The mural is brought to life with just a few clicks of your mobile device by clicking on a Facebook link, pointing your camera at the mural, and watching the magic happen.

After you watch the display, you’ll be invited to take a video of yourself doing your best Don?i?-style step back jump shot. Doing so will enter you into the Luka Step Back Challenge, where MFFLs (Mavericks Fans For Life) will be enterred into a sweepstakes to win a signed Luka Don?i? jersey and meet the rookie himself.

The mural will be up through March 15. Mavericks fans are encouraged to share their experience with the mural on social media using the hashtag #mavsAR.
