LEGO has become one of the most popular and recognizable toy brands in the world. The colorful plastic construction sets have conquered the world thanks to their ease of use, compatibility with every other LEGO set, and endless imaginative possibilities. LEGO bricks aren’t only toys, though. Artists and engineers around the world have transformed the one-of-a-kind bricks into all sorts of practical and breathtaking creations worthy of a museum or robotics lab. To celebrate these endless possibilities, Dallas’ Perot Museum of Nature and Science is welcoming The Art of the Brick, an exhibit which explores the endless possibilities of LEGO.
The Art of the Brick is a critically-acclaimed international touring exhibit which contains the world’s largest and most elaborate display of pieces constructed exclusively using LEGO bricks. Each piece was created by world-renowned contemporary artist Nathan Sawaya and is intended to inspire ingenuity and creativity through both original creations and re-imagined versions of some the world’s most famous works of art like Van Gogh’s Starry Night and Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring.
In addition to works of art, the exhibition also features The Science of the Brick, an interactive, hands-on LEGO gallery which offers visitors the opportunity to take part in building challenges, LEGO-themed games, or just explore their imagination with free LEGO play spaces.
The Art of the Brick will take up residence at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science from Feb. 23 through Aug. 18. Admission to the Perot Museum starts at $20 for adults and $13 for kids, while The Art of the Brick costs an additional $10 for adults and $8 for kids.
