This year marks an impressive milestone for Southern Methodist University’s Meadows Museum. The museum is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of its Bishop Boulevard building, recognizing the time that’s past and the experience, art, and evolution gained.

To honor this impressive event, Meadows Museum is playing host to two exhibitions specifically curated to memorialize the last couple of decades.

“Building on the Boulevard: Celebrating 20 Years in the Meadows Museum’s New Home” will set the foundation for viewers visiting SMU exhibitions in Dallas or anyone unfamiliar with the building’s rich history. The exhibit will include blueprint drawings, correspondences, and other mementos that were used in the creation of this stately monument.

In addition to these relevant artifacts, “Building on the Boulevard’ will also feature the highlights of the Meadows Museum collection as a whole. Included are masterpieces by Goya, Dali, and Pere Vall (just to name a few.) Known for its amassment of Spanish art, this will likely be a focus.

Joining this show is Meadows Museum’s second exhibition, “Fossils to Film: The Best of SMU’s Collections.” This collection is a conglomerate of all of Southern Methodist University’s treasures. “Fossils to Film” will feature antiquities, memorabilia, art pieces, and more gathered from a variety of institutions. Pulling from the Hamons Art Library, the Underwood Law Library, the Shuler Museum of Paleontology, the Department of Anthropology, and many others, this exhibition will become an exciting representation of the university’s captivating history.

The two Meadows Museum events are set to unveil in March and will be open for viewing through June. For more information, please visit the Meadows Museum website.
