Here is the weekend round-up of all the cheap and free events happening in and around the Boston, Massachusetts area on Saturday, October 13 & Sunday, October 14, 2012:

Food Truck Throwdown: Boston vs. NYC: Saturday, October 13th, 2012 from 11am to 9pm in Dewey Square on the Greenway, Boston. Food trucks from each city will battle and compete in various challenges for the beloved title of Best Food Truck! Their will be music and celebrity judges as well. Free. Haunted Movie Series Featuring Chitty Chitty Bang Bang:Saturday, October 13th, 2012 starting at 6:30pm at Salem Common in Salem, MA. What better place is there to watch a free Halloween movie than in Salem!? There is also a Open Market in Salem until 6pm that you can catch before the movie in addition to many other haunted happenings. Free. More information here.

Ocean Spray Fall Harvest Festival at Patriots Place: Saturday, October 13th, 2012 from 10-5pm at Patriots Place in Foxborough. Enjoy cranberry bogs, hayrides, pumpkin carvings, visit with Pat Patriot and much more. Free! For more information, please go here.

Revere Beach Pumpkin Festival: Saturday, October 13th, 2012 from 11-3pm at Revere Beach (across from Kelly’s Roast Beef). Bring the kiddos to the pumpkin patch to grab your favorite pumpkin as well as face painting, entertainment, and a farmers market. Free. For more information, please go here.  

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer: Sunday, October 14th, 2012 starting at 8am at the DCR Hatch Shell. Walk to end Breast Cancer in this beautiful 5K walk around the Charles River. (I’ve participated before, it is a great event!) Online pre-registration  is over, but you can sign-up at the day of the event. Cost is whatever you raise and/or donate to the cause. Community Day: Harvard Crimson vs. Bucknell Bison: Saturday, October 14th, 2012. Activities start at 2pm and kickoff is 3:30pm at the Harvard Stadium. Residents of Cambridge and Allston can receive free tickets as well as free food vouchers while cheering on the Harvard Crimson.
